Hello.
Howdy.
Hola.
[Insert language greetings here].
As long as I could remember, I’ve always had some passion to cook. From what my mother told me, she said she caught me making my own grilled cheese sandwich one day. I’m not sure if that is some historical importance, but sufficed to say, that passion did die off for some time. Maybe it was the clean-up or maybe the extensive preperation, but when the desire to cook came past my thoughts, I went all out.
Then I found Joy. She made my desire to cook triple fold. We have several cookbooks at our disposal, the latest being the Joy of Cooking. What we’re hoping to gather from these books are possibly our own signature dishes that we can pass to others. At the moment, we’re following things, pretty much, to the book. However, that doesn’t stop us from altering some of our favorites every now and then.
Joy brings out a different cook in me I never thought possible. A fascination of cooking shows, moreover, Food Network. When I worked the overnight shifts or the “swing” shift before my present job, I would come home to Joy watching the current show. I would start to watch as well and take in the sights. Then I started watching regularly, slowly becoming more fascinated. If I were ever get a chance to meet or even learn to cook, it would be from either Bobby Flay or Alton Brown. There was a phrase that I heard during one of Bobby’s episodes that caught my ear that made me think: “If you’re not worried about your passion, you’re not passionate about it.” (That’s a bit of paraphrasing, but the gist is there.) I’ve made it sort of my mantra.
Joy and I are taking in as much as we can about food. As mentioned previously, we’re indulging in Kitchen Nightmares. Whenever we’re watching this show, we always envision our little dream restraunt as one that would never appear on this show. Maybe one day that dream will become a reality, but for now, I’m okay with being a tech geek. Well, I flooded your surfing long enough. Let’s get to the good stuff, shall we? I hope you enjoy reading our expoits as much as we love presenting it to you.
