Christmas Eve dinner has always been a tradition in my family that was made by reservation. Between Eli’s of Chicago to some of the fine dining chains here in Phoenix, my family was always treated out for dinner.
This year, Joy and I wanted to do something different. We wanted to make Christmas Eve dinner. Even before we sent out the invitations for the dinner, we spent many nights planning this out. Every detail needed to be precise to us. I believe we did a most restaurant-worthy job.
First, this was our menu:
Appetizers:
1. Spinach Dip with Christmas Corn Tortillas (i.e. red and green chips)
2. Cheese Plate with Grapes and Crackers
Side Dishes:
1. Spinach Panchetta Salad with pine nuts in a Gorganzola vinagerette
2. Hasselback Roasted Potatoes
Main Course:
Herbed Fillet of Beef with Tomato Madeira Confit
Dessert:
1. Crème brûlée
Beverages:
1. Wine
2. Cranberry Champagne
3. Jeweled Cosmo
4. Kona Coffee
I won’t make a massive post here but I will follow-up this post with the recipes for these dishes. I highly recommend that you try making all of these dishes as I am very proud of how everything turned out.
The table was decorated with a vase filled with cinnamon-scented pine cones with fake floral stems from Micheal’s Craft shop, large red plates and smaller salad plates from Target, red cloth napkins from Target as well, wine glasses from Ikea, champagne glasses from Fry’s, and the most creative thing on the table: printed place cards for our guests.
The best part of the evening? We had the ability to relax and not feel the pressure of a wait staff nor did we struggle to listen to each other’s conversations. Initial response from our guests was our presentation was 5-star worthy. That made Joy and I smile wide.
Now, please enjoy our collection of recipes that we featured for dinner. I hope they bring as much joy to your table as they have brought to ours.
