Hee. I'm an equal-opportunity eater, too, especially when it comes to chocolate. It's not that I don't understand the arguments against milk chocolate, it's just that (a) I don't care because (b) it's delicious. Even the cheap-o stuff. I'm not that much of a food snob, I guess. :)

Tric -- I hear ya. I find most store milk chocolates too sweet that I can only eat a bite of them. The ones I can't get enough of have more cocoa in them and are actually considered "dark" milk chocolate, now that I read more about them. The elitist attitude about it baffles me as well.

Jackie -- Totally understandable. Haha...that's true, I can easily eat a bar of milk chocolate compared to a dark one. Have you tried any of those soy milk chocolates? I just thought of them when you said you were vegan and it turns out they exist. I'll have to find to try!

The only reason I eat dark chocolate is that I am Vegan and therefore can\'t have dairy in it. It is a bit bitter for me which is great as I don\'t eat the bar in one sitting like I did with milk chocolate when I was vegetarian :)

I voted dark chocolate.. not because I'm a 'purist' or something. I find milk chocolate to be tasty too, I just find it a little too sweet sometimes (I generally prefer more bitter foods, so this is not a surprise to me). I've always preferred dark chocolate and I honestly cannot stand white, but milk chocolate is more than adequate. I don't understand how you can be 'elitist' about the sweet stuff that's pretty much a guilty pleasure anyway.

Arnold -- I know what you mean. My mind can only think fast enough to make my mouth eat it and the end. I hated dark chocolate as a child, my exposure to it at 7 was a Hershey's dark chocolate bar, which was way too bitter for my taste. Yup...you could end up just paying for the advertising and the hype.

I voted for 'dark' but if truth be told, when I am around chocolate it does sometimes not last long enough to be placed in categories. If it is sweet, I will eat it, and love it. When I was younger this neck of the woods was under embargo from most countries and thus our choice in many things, including chocolate, was very limited. Now all that has changed and I can experiment with all the goodies I never knew as a youngster. I have to agree with you on one thing, just like wine, the expensive chocolate is not necessarily always the better chocolate.
